For The Unlimited Racing Group, owners of the U-11 Miss Peters & May, preparation for the 2012 season has been dramatically different than a year ago, the team’s first season.
After acquiring a hull and equipment from Dr. Ken Muscatel shortly before the 2011 season, Scott and Shannon Raney and partner/driver JW Myers moved into a modern, very nice facility in Edmonds, Washington, just North of Seattle.

Last year at this time, the new owners were scrambling to get the boat and equipment together in time for the season opener in Madison. A heroic effort by everyone involved got the team on the water, but certainly not as well prepared as they will be in 2012.
A fresh coat of paint is the only major item still on the check list and the team will have a much improved inventory of engines, gearboxes and spare parts when they load the truck for the season.
Scott Raney is a "hands on" owner
After a productive off season of work by Scott Raney and crew, Miss Peters & May has new fairings, wings and bull noses and a third turbine engine ready to play.
Team Manager Shannon Raney has assembled an impressive list of associate sponsors joining Peters & May who will again be the teams title sponsor in 2012.
Those include Central Welding, West Coast Collision, J&D Hydraulics, King Marine Canvas, Renton Coil Spring and Easy Click.

Myers had the opportunity to get a few laps in the boat during a recent test session in the Tri-Cities which was cut short by a mechanical problem.
“We were actually lucky,” explained Myers. “We found a problem during that test that we would not have found until we went racing. It would have cost us much more in time and points at that point.”
The veteran driver likes the boat ride and says, “It handles just fine. Does everything I want it to do. We just didn’t have time last year to work on things like engines, gearboxes and propellers that produce speed. We should be in much better shape and faster this year.”
Owner-driver JW Myers should have a faster ride in 2012.
With a an improved inventory of equipment and a year of experience working together as a race team, fans of this popular team and sponsor should see an improvement in the team’s tenth place finish in 2011 and better performance on the water during the 2012 Air National Guard H1 Unlimited season.
