DiJulio Family On Board 57

Chris DiJulio and his company, Lincoln Moving & Storage, along with Brian DiJulio’s company, Washington Asset Management, will be co-sponsoring the U-57 Miss DiJulio at this years Seattle Seafair Albert Lee Cup, August 3rd, 4th & 5th. George DiJulio, Vice President for Lincoln Moving & Storage pointed out that the company is an agent for Mayflower Transit, who will also be an associate sponsor on the hydroplane.

Evans Bro’s Racing, LLC purchased the U-57 hull from Ted Porter, founder of Formula Boats, in the early spring of this year and have had a successful season to date, placing 5th in the coveted APBA Detroit Gold Cup two weeks ago. Piloted by the effervescent N. Mark Evans, the U-57 Miss DiJulio is expected to make a strong showing at this years Seafair event. Mitch Evans, Mark’s younger brother, is the team’s Crew Chief and radio specialist. Both Mark and Mitch have driven numerous hulls over the years, and some of these quite legendary. Mark Evans has driven the Wellness Plan, Waffle House, Miss Exide, Miss Budweiser, Llumar Window Film, and the PICO American Dream, in which he made hydroplane history in Seattle, after flipping the boat in an earlier heat and then coming back to win the Championship Final from lane 4. “Flip & Win” as it is often referred to, was one of the most remarkable jobs of driving an unlimited in the sports 103 year history.

Mitch Evans has piloted some famous hulls as well, including the U-3 Coopers Express, the Oh Boy Oberto, Vacationville, Appian Jeronimo, and Team Stihl. Mitch brings with him years of boat building and repairing experience, as well as becoming one of the sports best crew chiefs and radio men. One of the major keys to success for a racing team is having a good radio man and spotter to alert the driver on just what is occurring on the race course. This is especially so with timing starts and knowing when it is legal to pass another boat or move to an inside lane.

“We are both excited and honored to be sponsoring our first unlimited hydroplane at Seafair, especially with the famous Evans brothers. This is a wonderful opportunity to honor our customers, employees and our whole family. It will be fun to see the bright red, U-57 Miss DiJulio pull away from the dock for its first heat of the day. We are all looking forward to this coming weekend”  Said Chris DiJulio

“We are very excited about this opportunity to sponsor an unlimited for the first time in Seattle. It gives us a great way to honor our customers and our employees. We are also sponsoring the U-57 because we want to recognize our parents and the entire DiJulio family. This gives us a fun way to thank George DiJulio Sr., and Jim DiJulio Jr., for all they have done and continue to do for our whole family. ” Said George DiJulio.

“Washington Asset Management is thrilled to be a part of this new team and all the excitement that surrounds Seafair. Besides being a great driver, and a past winner at Seafair, I hear Mark Evans is a pretty darn good drummer. I play in a local band myself and look forward to a few jam sessions with him. This is going to be a great weekend for us all. I know the boat will be guided by the spirit and hope of our hard working ancestors, this one’s for them!”” Said Brian DiJulio.
