Air Guard - Degree Men Display Boat On Tour.
 
 On display at Imperial Beach
The first day of the Air Guard - Degree Men display boat's busy ten day tour of the San Diego area started out just fine.

Lisa Martinez, the Degree Men rep for military retailers had done her job well and "Battery" Bob Rainwaters of the Formulaboats team had no problem getting the display boat through security and into position at the Navy's Imperial Beach Helicopter base's big commisary.

Then it was time to move to the big North Island Navy base.

J Michael Kelly and U-7 Will Race For Air Guard

H1 Unlimited Chairman Sam Cole and Formulaboats.com team owner Ted Porter have announced that Porter’s U-7 Unlimited Hydroplane will represent the Air Guard at the Air Guard Championship presented by Degree Men at Bayfair on Mission Bay, September 17 – 19.

 Cole explained that the rebranding of the U-7 is part of the sport’s support of our troops and recognizes the contribution made to the event by former President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Scott Carson and his wife Linda.

They’ll be providing the Thunder, enhancing the already amazing H1 Unlimited Hydroplanes.

Degree Men Will Sponsor U-37 At Bayfair

As part of their presenting sponsorship of the Air Guard Championship at Bayfair in San Diego, September 17-19, Degree Men will become title sponsor of Schumacher Racing's U-37, driven by Jon Zimmerman, for that event.

Schumacher Racing's Peters & May sponsorship will move to Dr ken Muscatel's U-25 Superior Racing for the Air Guard Championship presented by Degree Men.

Air Guard & Degree Men Back Return To Bayfair

 H1 Unlimited Hydroplanes will return to San Diego’s Bayfair on Mission Bay September 17 – 19 for the Air Guard Championship presented by Degree Men.

In announcing the agreement which led to the return of the world’s fastest race boats to Bayfair after a one year absence, H1 Chairman Sam Cole said, “This is a fantastic moment for our sport. To be able to announce that we are racing in San Diego with the Air National Guard as the race sponsor and Degree Men as the presenting sponsor is awesome."

History Making Weekend For U-7's J Michael Kelly
Recently, U-7 Graham Trucking driver J Michael Kelly went back to his roots and made history.

Before getting his first Unlimited ride in 2004, JMK was one of the top drivers in APBA outboard ranks and a three time inductee into the APBA Hall of Champions.

At the 2010 APBA Stock Outboard National Championships  in Oroville, California,  Kelly won the A Stock Hydro Class National Championship on Thursday.  On Friday he added wins in the A Stock Runabout and 25SS Runabout classes.

When he added the C Stock Hydro title on Saturday, he accomplished something that sent historians scrambling through the record books - winning four classes at the Stock Nationals.

U-25 Team Wins Streamlight "Light It Up" Award
The herculean effort to have the U-25 Car Pros in the Albert Lee Cup at Seafair following the serious damage sustained by the hull in the Lamb Weston Columbia Cup has earned the team the Streamlight "Light It Up" Award for the event.

The award goes to an individual or team whose effort  produces one of the event's brightest moments.

Eric Mills from Streamlight's corporate headquarters in Eagletown, Pennsylvania  attended Seafair and presented trophies to the previous award winners.               Photos by Chris Denslow

Sport Weathering Recession - Plans to Expand
In an interview with Jim Riley for the Seattle Times, H! Unlimited Chairman Sam Cole says, "We have been weathering the recession like the rest of America.   I feel very positive about where we're headed. I can see us racing on two or three continents in the next couple of years."

Steve David Scores Dramatic Seafair Victory
Defending national high point champion Steve David in the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto and arch rival Dave Villwock in the U-96 Spirit of Qatar, the defending Seafair champion, battled each other and a rough Lake Washington throughout the five lap final heat of the 2010 Albert Lee Cup at Seafair with David using the inside advantage to take a close win.
