The
2010 APBA Gold Cup has been moved back to the original dates of July 9-11.
After initially indicating that they could handle the date change, several
Departments of the City of Detroit have encountered insurmountable logistic and
budgetary problems, and have indicated that they cannot provide essential
services on the June date.
"This is a major
disappointment and an inconvenience not only for the participants and the staff
and Board of DRRA, but more importantly for the many hard-working volunteers
whose efforts are vital to implementing every part of this complex event. While we regret the necessity to make
this change, the Board of Directors is fully prepared to present a great event
to our loyal fans and to all the participants," said Tom Bertolini,
President of DRRA and Race Director. "We are excited about the
ticket sales we have already made, and all of these tickets will be honored for
the July 9-11 date."
The 2010 Detroit APBA Gold
Cup will begin with testing and qualifying on Friday, July 9, and racing will
be Saturday and Sunday.
