Unlimited Hydroplanes back on the ground in Jacksonville
Ryan Hamilton of Peters and May USA reports the unlimited fleet has arrived in Jacksonville after circumnavigating the globe with a stop in Doha, Qatar for the running of the inaugural Oryx Cup UIM World Championship.
Hamilton expects the boats, which are currently on an agricultural hold, to be released to their crews in the next day.
The unlimiteds headed East out of Doha aboard the Hoegh Treasure, where
they immediately encountered delays due to bad weather and heavy seas.
Approaching Kobe, Japan, more bad weather was encountered, but the
fleet was safely transferred to the Hoegh Dubai for the trip across the
Pacific and arrived in Jacksonville after stopping in Texas and
traveling through the Panama Canal.
Scott Raney, crew chief of the U-37 Miss Peters and May will move
that boat to Miami on the 8th, where it will be on display in the Miami
Boat Show February 11-15
