Event Raises Money for Madison Regatta Victims
A Grosse Pointe Yacht Club event Friday night in Detroit raised $2,000 for the victims of last week’s accident at the Madison Regatta.
The main item auctioned off was a lithograph of the Oh Boy! Oberto, which fetched $800 from Joe Schebil. Other items were auctioned and cash donations raised the amount to $2,000. The event took place during a Gold Cup party at the Air National Guard Hydroplane Series.
Three rescue boat workers were injured Sunday when a hydroplane collided with their boat during a heat.
The Madison Regatta has set up a fund to help the victims. Donations can be made to the Madison Regatta Inc., P.O. Box 341, Madison, IN 47250.
