The team’s release –

Monday, June 18th,. (Seattle, WA..)   David Brown, owner of Fox Plumbing and Heating., announced today that his company will be the Title sponsor for the U-100 Leland Unlimited, Inc., racing team in Seattle. Fred Leland, whose teams have won the Seattle Seafair hydroplane race and the Tri-Cities Columbia Cup three times each, died this month due to a long battle with Cancer. His widow, Stacy Briseno, was encouraged by Fred Leland to continue his long racing tradition, which pleased the entire team.

“We are honoring Fred this entire year, racing under the theme: “Leland’s American Dream Tour”, and we are so happy and honored to have Fox Plumbing as our Title sponsor in Seattle. We welcome Mr. Brown and his entire company onboard one of the sports most dedicated and successful racing programs. This years team is made up of some very dedicated and skillful crew members and a team that “refuses to lose”. We have been through a lot over the past few years and David Brown and his fine Fox Plumbing company have given us the opportunity to showcase our talent once again.“  said Stacy Briseno, team owner.

“I wanted to sponsor an unlimited hydroplane again for several reasons. First of all I wanted to honor my employees and customers., and this seemed a great opportunity to show my appreciation. Secondly I wanted to partner with a team with a tradition of excellence, that exemplifies the kind of dedication and work ethic that my company represents. The loss of Fred Leland has been devastating, but these people have a winning attitude and a perseverance that I greatly admire. My entire company looks forward to Seafair and the “battle of the plumbers” on Lake Washington. I know Bill Cahill’s energy and enthusiasm for the sport, which matches my own. I know he respects me as a business man as well. We are going to have fun, win, lose or draw.”  Said David Brown, owner of Fox Plumbing and Heating.

Greg Hopp, the pilot of the U-100 Miss FOX Plumbing, has had a very successful early season in his Grand Prix hydroplane, owned by Bob Schellhase. The GP-12 Miss Slabjack won the ‘Tastin n Racin’ event two weekends ago and this past weekend, in South Dakota, at the PEPSI Racing Power Cup Challenge, Hopp drove the Miss Slabjack to victory once again.

Greg Hopp is regarded as one of the most skilful and experienced unlimited jockeys in the entire sport. Many believe this will be the year the team makes frequent podium finishes. David Brown is not new to unlimited racing, having co-sponsored the Miss Rent-it-Shops in the early 1980’s. The U-100 and the back up hull are being readied at the team’s shop in Kirkland, WA. Evergreen Signs will be doing the professional decal wrap and logo ID on the two hulls. The boats colors will be the FOX Plumbing bright yellow with a charcoal accent on the No.1 hull and bright yellow with white accents on the back up hull.
