It’s Official! GP West at Seafair in 2015!

GPW LogoAnnounced by Seafair:
Friday, July 31 – Sunday, August 2, 2015
FRI/SAT 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., SAT 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Genesee Park on Lake Washington

A Grand Prix is the largest, loudest, and fastest automotive powered vessel racing on an oval course and can reach speeds of 170+ miles per hour in the straight-aways while throwing a wall of water sixty feet in the air as it navigates the hairpin turns.  The size of the craft cannot exceed 26 feet in length, 12.5 feet in width, and the combination of boat and engine must weigh a minimum of 2,700 pounds.  The size of the engine is 468 cubic inches and supercharged with a 671 blower running 20 percent over crankshaft speed.  It runs on methanol fuel.  This power plant will generate between 1300-1600 horsepower.  The thunder of the “blown” automotive engines and their speed are definite crowd pleasers.  GPW boats currently hold two (2) certified U.I.M. world speed records and have attained the top three Grand Prix high points positions in APBA for each of the past 3 years!

About Grand Prix West (GPW)
The Grand Prix West Hydroplane Association was formed in 2009 and promotes a homogeneous class of hydroplane racing where technology, hulls, engine packages, and drivers are comparable enough to provide close, exciting competition not only at each race but within each heat with no one Team considered the “one to beat”.  GPW is an independent “club” of, and will operate in conjunction with, the American Power Boat Association.  With the recent Memorandum of Agreement signed with H1 Unlimited, GPW will be racing at most if not all of the H1 events in 2015.  Teams from around the country will be participating in events and exhibitions throughout the country so come on out and support the noise! CLICK HERE to learn more.
