What is a race team? It is more than the owner and driver. It is a group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project.

With that in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Jason Lowery to the H1 Unlimited family and friends. Jason is our Chief Mechanic on the U 27 Dalton Industries/Wiggins Racing Hydroplane. Jason is not new to Hydroplane Racing as he went to his first race in 1994 at Raleigh, NC,   racing One Litre Modified and GNH with Milton and Charley Wiggins. He once again was the Chief Mechanic and handled all aspects of keeping the boat running in Championship form both on and off the water. Jason continued to help Milton and Charley grow as he continued his duties on the Unlimited Light and Grand Prix circuit. Jason has an extensive mechanical background, with automotive and heavy equipment. His extensive background in setting up and maintaining a hydroplane is second to none.

Jason has also crewed with the Miss Madison Team in Tri-Cities and Seattle in 2001, so he is not exactly new to unlimited hydroplane racing. Some of his duties on the U-27 will be to change and maintain gears and gearboxes, assist on the turbine engine, nearly anything and everything on the hull including painting and bodywork, damage repairs, maintenance, making spare parts, making molds for new parts, welding and steel fabrication – and those are just a few of his jobs.

Jason LoweryJason also has a Class A CDL and has been the transporter driver for Wiggins Racing since 1994. He will continue this role as well in 2015. He will be spread thin, but at the age of 49, Jason continues to take on any task and this year might just be his biggest ever. We are very proud to have Jason continue to lend us his expertise as our Chief Mechanic on the H1 Unlimited tour for 2015. As you can see, he has many talents that he will be exercising again this year.

Jason has worked for Wiggins Service and Supply since 1993 as a Hose Shop Manager and fabricates all types of industrial hose assemblies, hydraulic, Teflon, performance hoses, etc.

I am so pleased to race with Jason and the Wiggins Family again this year as I have done in the past. I am sure all of you will know Jason by the end of the season, but I just wanted to take a moment to highlight some of his many talents so you can witness them yourself. Take a minute to introduce yourself to him as you will find out he is a very interesting individual. He is also (not sure how he has time or will have time anymore, ha ha) an avid hunter, loves going camping, customizes cars and trucks and loves to work on his 1965 427 SC Cobra Roadster with his wife Karen.

Thanks for all you do and have done Jason. We could not have done it without you.
