On June 2, 2023, H1 Unlimited teams gathered on the banks of the Columbia River for a day long test session designed to gather valuable data ahead of the season-opener in Guntersville on June 24.

The eight teams attending were:

  • U-1 – Miss HomeStreet, Dylan Runne
  • U-8 – Beacon Electric, J. Michael Kelly
  • U-9 – Beacon Plumbing, Corey Peabody
  • U-11 – Legend Yacht Transport, Jamie Nilsen
  • U-21 – Lakeridge Paving, Gunnar O’Farrell
  • U-40 – Bucket List Racing, Dustin Echols
  • U-91 – Miss Goodman Real Estate, Andrew Tate
  • U-440 – Boitano Homes, Brent Hall

Dylan Runne in the U-1 Miss HomeStreet set the top speed of the day, with a fastest lap of 163.155 MPH. Corey Peabody’s U-9 Beacon Plumbing followed at 162.338 MPH, J. Michael Kelly in the U-8 Beacon Electric was 3rd at 162.194 MPH, Andrew Tate in the U-91 Miss Goodman Real Estate was 4th at 160.568 MPH and Dustin Echols rounded out the top 5 in the U-40 Bucket List Racing entry at 159.812 MPH, Gunnar O’ Farrell in the U-21 Lakeridge Paving was next at 155.628 MPH and Jamie Nilsen in the U-11 Legend Yacht Transport brought up the tail end at 155.335 MPH. Brent Hall’s U-440 Boitano Homes never got off the trailer due to an electrical issue.

During the course of the day, a total of 109 laps were run by all teams and the session ended with less than 8 MPH covering the entire field, four teams clocking laps over 160 MPH and the top five boats separated by less than 4 MPH! Only 13 Times in H1 Unlimited qualifying history have the top 5 boats been split by a smaller margin:

This puts our 2023 field squarely at the top of the most competitive fields in the history of Unlimited Hydroplane racing, and guarantees a very exciting 2023 season to come!
