Flav-R-Pac Is Back With Bucket List Racing For PNW Races
SNOHOMISH, Wash. – Following up Bucket List Racing’s best-ever season, the team enters the 2024 H1 Unlimited season with good news.
Owners Sharon and Kelly Stocklin today announced that they have finalized an agreement with Flav-R-Pac for sponsorship of the U-40 Unlimited hydroplane for the Columbia Cup in Tri-Cities and Seafair in Seattle.
“It’s exciting to announce that Flav-R-Pac is back to support Bucket List Racing today,” said Sharon Stocklin, the team’s co-owner. “We are very happy to continue this partnership, and everyone from Kelly and I along with Taylor, Dustin and the rest of the team looks forward to representing this great brand at the two Northwest races.”
Flav-R-Pac found value in its sponsorship of the team last year, and that’s a big reason why the Pac is back for another couple of races.
With Driver Dustin Echols at the wheel for his first full season in the U-40 in 2023, Bucket List Racing finished third in the H1 Unlimited season standings. The team finished on the podium at both Madison (third) and Tri-Cities (second) and won heat 3A at the Gold Cup in Seattle. Totaling 4,181 points for the season, the U-40 team accomplished its best finish ever in the points standings. The team was also among the top three qualifiers at each 2023 event. Echols will be in the cockpit again for the 2024 H1 Unlimited season.
Most notably in 2023, however, was the fastest qualifying lap Echols laid down in Guntersville, Ala., at the season opener. The U-40 was fastest qualifier at that race, turning a freshwater qualifying record on a 2.5 mile course at 171.294 m.p.h.
The physical appearance of the U-40 is expected to be similar this year to the way it ran in 2023.
“We’ll run back east in our very familiar Tennessee Orange livery,” said Crew Chief Taylor Evans. “Once we get home from Madison, we’ll be excited to have the yellow and blue Flav-R-Pac wrap applied to the U-40 again. And with our newly-enhanced social media strategy we’ll work very hard to maximize brand benefit to Flav-R-Pac once again.”
About Bucket List Racing
Owned by Kelly & Sharon Stocklin, Bucket List Racing was born in 2012 when the couple decided to “check off a bucket list item” and has been racing an unlimited hydroplane ever since. For eight years, the team campaigned a smaller hydroplane with a smaller turbine powerplant and achieved various levels of success, including a 150-plus mile per hour lap in qualifying at the Guntersville Hydrofest in 2019. In 2020, Bucket List Racing purchased the current U-40 and created a team that immediately made the craft a force in H1 Unlimited. The team set the freshwater world speed record for a qualifying lap last June at Guntersville with Dustin Echols at the wheel. A veteran of Bucket List Racing, Crew Chief Taylor Evans has led the shop and race crew since the team started the U-40 program.
