Crew night in the Maple Valley, Washington shop of Greg and Brian O’Farrell’s GoFastTurnLeft team finds the team’s primary race boat getting a much needed major overhaul in preparation for a return to the full H1 circuit in 2014.

Greg O’Farrell explained that damage to the boat in accidents in Madison in 2011 and Doha in 2013 needed a deeper fix than the repairs that were done previously. Crew Chief Jim Harvey and the crew are making those repairs now and making sure the boat is ready for the demanding H1 tour.
Extensive work is being done on the right sponson with the left side getting attention as well.
When repairs are completed, the hull will be prepped for a new paint job, very similar to the previous green, black and white color scheme with some blue added. Maybe a little like Seahawks colors?
Construction is underway again on the team’s new race boat.
O’Farrell says the team has three turbine engines ready to run and the hardware side of the operation is in good shape.
The project to build a new boat, which had been on hold, has also been restarted. The partially completed hull had been sitting quietly but construction is underway again and the team will have a new boat in a few months.
Expect to see two drivers in the 21 in 2014. Brian Perkins will share the seat with 2013 H1 Rookie of the Year Jamie Nilsen. Nilsen qualified as a driver at the Tri-Cities Columbia Cup last season and drove the team’s second boat, the 48 Snoqualmie Casino, to a spot in the final heat at Seafair in Seattle the following week.
Brian Perkins and Jamie Nilsen will share the seat of the 21 in 2014.
Perkins and Nilsen shared the ride in the team’s 5 Liter in 2013 and drove it to the APBA National High Point Championship.
The team is seeking sponsorship to help with the expense of running the entire circuit in 2014. O’Farrell would also like to sell some spare boats, trucks and other equipment (including a complete Allison engine) stored at the shop.
