The team’s release says –  We’re very pleased to welcome Suffolk, Virginia’s Scott Liddycoat to the team as the driver of the U-7 Unlimited hydroplane! Scott is replacing J. Michael Kelly.

Liddycoat is a 19-year veteran of Inboard racing, with several Championships along the way. Using his experience from time with Jon Staudacher, Carter Parrish and Henry Lauterbach, he has also designed and built record-setting hydroplanes for himself and other drivers.

Scott will bring a wealth of knowledge from Inboard racing and boat tuning to the team. Scott learns quickly and will adapt to the cockpit of the U-7 very well.

Liddycoat joins U-5 driver Jeff Bernard, winner of 3 Unlimited races and 2010 National High Points Champion in 2.5 Litre Stock and National Modified classes and N. Mark Evans, winner of 10 Unlimited races who is returning to pilot the U-57.

In 2011, U-5 Racing is also creating a New Driver Development Program. The NDDP is patterned after successful development programs in other forms of motorsport. The first member of the U-5 NDDP, joining the team as back-up driver is Bianca Bononcini. Growing up in a boatracing family, Bianca began her driving career in 2008 and is a strong competitor in APBA Inboards. Bianca will shadow the U-5, U-7, U-57 racing operations during the year and will test, qualify and race the U-57 under the guidance of Mark Evans at certain events.

Welcome to the team, Bianca! “I’m extremely excited with the bold driver changes we’ve made. This gives our team a competitive edge that no other team can match. This perfect blend of youth and experience will keep us a front-runner and move us beyond recent years,” states U-5 Racing’s Team Owner Ted Porter.

U-5 Racing is looking forward to a winning 2011 racing season on and off the water!
