MADISON, Indiana — The Madison Regatta has canceled all on-water activities scheduled for Friday, including testing and qualifying, due to the significant amount of debris remaining on the race course.
The goal of every race weekend is to get the boats on the water and provide exciting competition for fans. However, racing cannot begin until the course has been completely cleared and deemed safe for competition. The safety of the drivers, crews, officials, volunteers, and spectators remains the top priority.
Today’s cleanup efforts have been made even more challenging by extreme heat.
H1 Unlimited would like to sincerely thank the Madison Regatta organizing committee, along with the many volunteers who have worked tirelessly throughout the day under difficult conditions to prepare the race course. Their dedication and commitment to the event are greatly appreciated.
An updated schedule for the remainder of the Gold Cup weekend is expected to be released later this evening.
Fans are reminded that the Madison Regatta Parade will still take place tonight at 6:00 p.m.
H1 Unlimited appreciates the patience and understanding of its fans, teams, partners, and the entire Madison community. We look forward to returning to the water as soon as conditions allow and continuing the excitement of the Gold Cup weekend.
