SAN DIEGO, California – Andrew Tate and the U-1 BWR Racing closed out the 2026 H1 Unlimited season in championship fashion Sunday at Bayfair in San Diego, capturing the Bill Muncey Cup and securing the National High Points Championship.
The championship battle came down to the final day of the season, with Tate and Jimmy Shane separated by only 115 points entering Sunday’s final.
After three sets of preliminary heats, Tate earned his place in the final aboard the U-1 BWR Racing. Due to H1 Unlimited’s lane-selection rules, Tate was required to start no farther inside than Lane 3, having already used Lanes 1 and 2 once during previous finals this season.
When the green flag dropped, Tate delivered.
Starting from Lane 3, he drove the U-1 to victory with an average speed of 152.956 mph, earning 400 points and the Bill Muncey Cup.
J. Michael Kelly finished second aboard the U-00 Maverick with an average speed of 147.331 mph, earning 300 points. Corey Peabody and the U-3 Tahoe Miss followed closely in third at 147.287 mph, while Jamie Nilsen and the U-11 Miss FLAV-R-PAC finished fourth.
Jimmy Shane in the U-27 Miss Apollo and Dylan Runne in the U-40 Bucket List Racing were disqualified for N2 violations.

Third consecutive championship for Tate
The victory in San Diego also secured Tate’s third consecutive H1 Unlimited National High Points Driver Championship and the fourth of his career.
For BWR Racing, the season ended with another championship as well. The team earned its second consecutive National High Points Team Championship, successfully defending the title it captured in 2025.
The result completes a season-long championship battle that remained undecided until the final event. Tate and BWR Racing leave San Diego with both the Bill Muncey Cup and the 2026 National High Points titles, bringing the 2026 H1 Unlimited season to a close.
