In 2024, the start procedure was changed to eliminate the 80 MPH rule in favor of a Scoreup that made the start/finish line the point on the course that a boat was not allowed to pass within a predetermined time (usually 1:30 before the start). If the boat passed the start/finish line prior to that time, they would be forced to run in the outside lane
