TRI-CITIES, WA — May 17, 2025 — Six H1 Unlimited teams gathered in Tri-Cities on Saturday for the official pre-season testing session, marking the first major step toward the 2025 race season. Despite a rainy start to the day, weather conditions improved and all teams were able to complete their scheduled runs on the Columbia River.
The day included a dramatic incident during the first round of testing, as U-21 Go Fast Turn Left driver Gunnar O’Farrell was involved in a spectacular blow over. Thankfully, O’Farrell was unharmed, and the team remains optimistic, expecting to return in time for the Tri-Cities Water Follies in July.
The overall mood among teams was positive, with many using the opportunity to fine-tune their equipment ahead of a competitive season. Corey Peabody, driver of the U-9 – Beacon plumbing – Strong Racing team, said their focus was “to make sure all the mechanical systems are solid going into the season.” Jamie Nilson, pilot of the U-11 FAV-R-PAC from Unlimited Racing Group, was pleased with the team’s performance and confirmed they are ready for the season opener.
Andrew Tate, driving the U-91 Goodman Real Estate – BWR Racing, posted the fastest speed of the weekend, reaching over 163 mph, a strong statement to open the year.
The 2025 H1 Unlimited season kicks off June 6–8 at Guntersville Lake Hydrofest in Alabama. Tickets are now available at: https://www.guntersvillelakehydrofest.com
H1 Unlimited extends sincere thanks to the six participating teams, all the volunteers, the Tri-Cities organizing committee, and the dedicated fans who came out to support the sport and help make the testing day both safe and successful.
